The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action
The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action envisions a health care system where all Americans have access to high-quality care, with nurses contributing to the full extent of their capabilities. The Campaign is coordinated through the Center to Champion Nursing in America, an initiative of AARP, the AARP Foundation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and includes 36 State Action Coalitions (SACs) and a wide range of health care providers, consumer advocates, policymakers and the business, academic and philanthropic communities.  SACs are built to effect long-term sustainable change in moving the recommendations into action.  Comprised of diverse groups of stakeholders from a variety of sectors, their mission is to develop an issue strategy plan that will be the basis for coalition implementation efforts.  SACs will further the overall initiative by capturing best practices, determining research needs, tracking lesions learned and identifying replicable models.
In February 2011, the IL Healthcare Action Coalition (IL HAC) was selected in Wave II as a State Action Coalition (SAC), convened to advance the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action (CFA). IL DCEO and IL Center for Nursing (ICN) are partnering in this initiative to maintain regional focus on workforce initiatives with measurable accomplishments.  The ICN Board of Directors is providing leadership during the asset mapping process and transition from Team IL to the IL Healthcare Action Coalition.  The State Action Coalitions have been convened to advance key issues at the local, state and national levels, to turn growing momentum and nationwide interest in the health care workforce into action.  For more information about the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, click here: http://www.thefutureofnursing.org/
